It's been over 7 months since I posted anything. Maybe it was just busy spring and summer. Maybe just didn't feel like I had anything meaningful to post. I had quite a few great experiences this summer that I am very thankful for. Also had some mundane and not-so-dramatic experiences that are just my life. I decided to just bullet point (photo dump) them here for expediency but some of these may be separate posts in the future. This ended up being too much for one post so this is the first of 2.

March 2026

  • Winter fun with Ruby making snow men and forts

  • Started on the firewood processor. The goal is to take the slab wood (bark and unusable for lumber) directly off the sawmill and cut it up for firewood for the winter

  • Did a few cool jobs at work like hanging the wall saw from a concrete ceiling (1st time ever) and shoring and cutting a 3 foot thick concrete roof and flying it out with a crane.

  • Started the Bloomingdale boots and bacon tradition with Ruby

  • Tried again (unsuccessfully) to get a coyote using old deer meat tied to a pallet at Bloomingdale.

April 2026

  • Trip to TN in early April with Chucky. Fixed the main front wall and extended the side hill trail. While working on the trail my phone fell out of my pocket and was gone. We used Google to locate it and found it under 6 inches of soil- MIRACLE!!

  • Easter and the beauty of early spring.

  • Chuckie turned 87 but shortly thereafter his favorite country singer David Allen Coe died at 86.

  • 49 Winchester in Albany

  • Mid April AMAZING family trip to Brazil- worthy of a separate post.

May 2026

  • Spring is finally here and the bass are biting!

  • Working away in Albany during the week

  • And at Bloomingdale on the weekends- started researching the concept of the floating dock (See separate upcoming post)

  • Quick trip to TN. Played some disc golf with Carter.

  • Dinner with Ellen, Morey and Ruby then Samantha Fish in Troy

  • Watched Eliza finish the Buffalo marathon

  • Milled up the Cedar Street Maple (possible future post)

June 2026

  • Ruby landed her biggest bass ever and then a bass landed me

  • Chuckie started whittling away at the mountain of dirt that we coined Mudpie Mountain

Ruby climbs Mudpie Mountain for the last time
Ruby climbs Mudpie Mountain for the last time
  • Sadie was introduced to the joy of cleaning out the frog pond

  • Had a great trip to Chicago and fun with all the Iversens

  • Rooted for USA and Brazil in the World Cup

  • Still knocking stuff down in Albany 3 days a week and moving dirt, eating bacon and catching bass on the weekend

  • Chuckie visits north Carolina which starts his quest for a Christmas tree farm
