Don't Waste Your Wishes on Perfection

Billys latest album is great! It's entitled "so much for goodbyes". There's a lot of good songs on it but it also has a few that are sung to his mom who died from an overdose last year. About 50/50 of songs that he's been playing at concerts for the last few months and new ones. He played his love song to his mom in "still I crash" in Colorado in September. It made me a tear up although some have said too sappy and Billy doesn't really have the best balad singing voice.

Anyway, the album has on it a song called Gild the Lilly. It's a great trippy peace and love song with lyrics like "I'd sing along to the birds if I only knew the words. " And "you don't know who you love until you miss them". Last week in San Diego he did a 20 minute version of it. (Highly recommended for all except for my darling and those who hate 20 minutes songs.

I've always loved the lyric in that song half way thru that says "Don't waste your wishes on perfection".

You've got one wish, one penny to toss into the wishing well. Like the amazing robin williams said in Alladin:

Not three but ONE chance. One wish. One life.

Life is glorious and so many times if you find beauty, permanence and amazingness in the calm of a moment you recognize happiness.

Do you wish for money? glory? advancement? luxury? ease? beauty? Time? Or is it Ok to wish for a day to stop and smell the roses, visit with a friend, spend a day with nature or relive fond memories and look for photos of those times.

That cup of coffee in morning gets you going each day to go out there and strive. Stive for what's next.

Is what's next the next achievement or is it just to celebrate life's victories and be thankful for everything you have and enjoy.

Nothing is perfect. We all fall short and fail in some way. No human is perfect so don't stress about perfection- can't get there from here.

If the robin sings it's song 500 times a day which one is perfect. All beautiful in a different way. Each can make you smile and want to sing along. You are that song, not perfect but perfectly beautiful in your own way.

Don't waste your wishes (life, stress, worry) on perfection.
