Tonight I'm settled into my new place here in Albany. Although the Syracuse home experiment turned out well (due to some good luck and a good housing market) I decided to just do a 6 month lease on an apartment close to the Albany EBD shop. I've been spending 2 days a week here and I was sick of living in a hotel out of a suitcase.

With the closing of the Syracuse house scheduled for early February, we hired movers and moved all (most) of the furniture and contents here to Central Ave in Colonie. I spent the last 2 days just unboxing and organizing the things that Christine carefully boxed up and labeled- what a help that was.

It's a pretty nice place. Nothing fancy like Manlius but not student housing. It's an upper with two bedrooms, two baths, living room, kitchen and dining room. There's a long hall that connects the kitchen and the living room and there's a pretty cool stained glass window in that hallway.

Central Avenue is a very busy road but the noise does not bother me having lived 50 yards from the New York State Thruway for most of my life. I met my neighbor Mary Ellen. She is a pleasant older lady who looks to be in her 70s. We had a quick conversation where she told me that she retired from the state and she told me which pizzeria she preferred. I got my dinner from there (La Famigla) tonight. The landlords are a nice older couple, Tom and Patty, probably in their 70s as well. They keep the place very tidy and are specific about rules to keep things running smoothly. I appreciate their efforts and don't mind the instructional signs that they have up because of my experience with tenants-a lot of time they're a pain in the ass.

Yesterday (Monday) afternoon the movers got the beds setup and all the furniture basically in the right room. I rearranged a little and of course got the internet working. It's interesting in a city there's a little bit of pressure when you go to name your Wi-Fi. If you leave it "Spectrum1234" it's kind of boring but you don't want to get too crazy or give all of your neighbors too much information. I settled on what I use when I try and phonetically tell people the name of the company (EBD) or the email domain using the spelling alphabet which I found is all so called the NATO phonetic alphabet.

By the end of Monday I mounted the old TV from the house in Akron on the wall and watched Monday night football with the help my new Roku stick.

Tonight after work I finished unboxing all of the kitchen and bathroom stuff, broke down all the boxes and threw out all the packing material. The kitchen actually turned out pretty good even though I thought I would not have enough room in the cabinets.

I got my workstation set up on the dining room table as well as put my clothes into my bedroom dresser. I also put some finishing touches on the living room like putting a coffee table book on my coffee table and finally displaying the bear skull that Christine 100% said would not be displayed in our home.

After it was all said and done it was a pretty smooth experience as far as moving goes. It's kind of a pain to set up a new home base but it is exciting to have a place of my own instead of the hotel. I am looking forward to this next chapter in the evolution of EBD and my life back on the road.
